2016 Schools Sustainability Conference

The Kingfisher Education Team attended the 2016 Schools Sustainability Conference held at St Christopher's 6th Form, Accrington. A super day; we met lots of very enthusiastic young eco-warriors and spoke with many teachers about the workshops we deliver. Each child that visited our marketplace stand made a 'water promise'. By the end of the day we almost filled our exhibition panel with fantastic promises.

Blackpool schools meet Boggy

Here are Janet and Jayne with Boggy delivering FOG (Fat, Oil and Grease) assemblies on behalf of United Utilities. This was a fantastic opportunity to work with United Utilities and a range of schools across Blackpool. The schools entered a competition to win £1000 prize money with the task to collect the most FOG.
FOG is an increasing issue in blocking sewers throughout the region!

HRH Princess Anne

Our claim to fame... Janet Denver from Kingfisher met HRH Princess Anne at the opening of the extension to Liverpool Wastewater Treatment Works.

Janet worked with some school children on behalf of United Utilities who had been on a site tour.

Streamwatch - what's inside your local river?

Streamwatch - what's inside your local river?

A fantastic session for the summer months looking at any local watercourse. We risk assess the dipping area and use giant models of 'Mavis' the Mayfly and 'Ted' the Rat-tailed maggot to help your pupils identify a clean or polluted river.
